5 Days Marangu Route
Marangu route which is popularly known as the coca cola route is one of the least easy route to the summit. This route is usually done in 5 days (this is shortest route to the summit) but 6 days is recommended for better acclimatization.
Day 0: Arrive at Kilimanjaro/ Arusha airport:
You will be met on arrival and transfer to a standard hotel in Arusha/Moshi, on Bed & Breakfast. This day a pre-trek briefing will be given by your lead mountain guide. Your trekking equipment will also be checked; you have an option to rent any other needed equipment for your trek.
Day 1: Hit the mountain to Marangu, Mandara hut.
After breakfast you will be given a short briefing, then you will drive to Kilimanjaro National Park which takes 2 hours from Arusha town. After registration and acquiring climbing permit at Marangu entrance gate (1,860 m) your climb will commence. You will walk through rainforest (tropical showers are highly probable). When arriving at the camp, our mountain crew will take care of all the necessities for you to settle down and have lunch.

Day 2: Horombo hut,
Today after breakfast you will leave the glades of the rain-forest and follow the path on the open moorlands to the Horombo escarpment (3,720m). When in this area you will be able to view two volcanos at once: Kibo and Mawenzi.

Day 3: Horombo Hut to Kibo hut.
On this day, after breakfast you will start your trek towards Kibo Hut. You will walk through upper heath land that blends into a moonscape as you enter the sweeping saddle connecting Mawenzi and Kibo. We will stop for lunch then proceed to Kibo huts you will rest as much as you can to prepare your body for the summit.

Day 4: Summit, 19,340ft, then descend to Horombo hut.
Excitement is building as morning comes with an early start between midnight (2 am). This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. We continue our way warm and focused on the amazing sense of accomplishment that lies ahead. With a switchback motion, we ascend through heavy scree and possibly snow towards Gillman’s Point on the crater rim. After your successful ascent to Uhuru Peak which is the highest point in Africa, you can descend to the nearest glacier if desired. Then you will return to Kibo camp and after a two-hour rest you will continue with descent to Horombo Hut.

Day 5: Descent from Horombo Hut to Marangu gate, transfer to standard Hotel in Arusha/Moshi.
After breakfast, we will head to Kilimanjaro National Park exit: Marangu gate (1,860m). When reaching the gate your mountain crew will congratulate you for this adventure; a certificate will be issued to you to commemorate this adventure.

Day 6: Transfer to Kilimanjaro airport, B.
After breakfast from your hotel, your transfer driver will take you to Kilimanjaro/Arusha airport for your departure flight.

- -Transport from the hotel in Arusha to the mountain and back to the Hotel
- -Kilimanjaro national park permits, camping/hut fees, mountain rescue fees, value added tax (VAT), and all other applicable local government taxes/fees
- -Services of Guide, assistant guides, cook and porters
- -Accommodation in a lodge in Arusha/ Moshi to a standard hotel for 2 nights (before & after the climb), including breakfast and taxes

- -Drinking water: Boiled water on the trek (recommended to bring a filter/filtrating tablets).

Price excludes:

- -Items of personal nature
- -Climbing gears (most of them can be rented on arrival; we recommend you email the list of items you think you may consider renting)
- -Tips to the climbing crew
- -Medical Equipment which can be rented well in advance for the following costs: $250/group for hyperbaric chamber and $140/group for a stretcher. Please note these prices include a porter to carry the equipment.
- -Portable toilets: If you do not want to use public toilets you can opt for portable toilet for an extra cost of $110/person (or $180/group). Kindly, let us know at the time you make a booking.
Solo Supplement= USD 90 for joining an existing group and for having a single room in a hotel.
Note:
- -The pack that the porters carry is limited to 35 pounds (i.e. 15kgs)
- -Overweight or extra luggage will require an extra porter at $15/day
- You can leave extra luggage in Hotel in Arusha/Moshi (if you leave any valuable items like cash, jewelry, etc) make sure you get a receipt for that.
*If you wanted to arrive a day earlier so as to have time to acclimate/get over jet lag before starting the trek, you can do that, and extra cost will be cost for hotel in Arusha, which are $95 for a single room, and $120 for a double room, including breakfast
*If you add that day, instead of just staying at the hotel, we can offer you a day trip safari to the nearby Arusha National Park for game drives safari for $250pp (plus $35pp if you want to do hiking there) including the hotel night in Arusha.
*If you wanted to acclimate well on the above route, an extra day is recommended, and we charge $270pp for adding a day on the mountain.
