6 DAYS OF DANAKIL DEPRESSION.

Day 01: Arrive Addis. Afternoon city tour

Upon arrival at Addis Abeba Bole International Airport you will be met and assisted by Moments Tour and Travel representative. Freshen
up, and after noon city tour of Addis Abeba including the National Museum, Entoto Park and streets as well as landmarks of the city. Overnight: Best Western Pearl Addis or similar

Day 02: Fly to Semera and drive to Afdera

In the morning transfer to the airport to fly to Semera (the flight departs around 7:00 AM). Freshen up and depart Semera for Lake Afdera. The road drive between Semera and Afdera is about 3 and ½ hr. We will get to Afdera in good time for lunch (if interested you can swim to escape the heat).Late afternoon, enjoy the salt extraction and stunning sunset. Overnight: Camping at Afdera

Day 03: Afdera-Erta Ale

Rise early to enjoy sunrise- a great time for photography. Leave Afdera for Ertale (3 hrs drive) arriving in good time at Dodum to get prepared for a short hike (about 30 minutes) to the rim of the volcano around 6:30. Enjoy the lava lake for about 3 hrs before retracing to
the base camp for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight: camping at Erta Ale

Day 04: Ascend to the rim of Ertale. Mid-Morning drive to Ahmed Ela.

Wake up early morning (around 5:00Am) to ascend to the volcano for a beautiful sunrise. Return to the campsite for breakfast followed by a drive to Ahmed Ela around 10:30AM. The drive with lunch stop will take around 4 and ½ hrs as the last part of the road is in bad conditions. Late afternoon, drive to the swimming pool to refresh and enjoy beautiful sunset and salt extraction at Lake Asale. Overnight: Camping at Ahmed Ela

Day 05: Ahmed Ela-Dallol-Ahmed Ela-Mekele

Early morning leave Ahmed Ela for Dallol on a 30 minute drive followed by a 20 minutes’ walk to enjoy the strange mineral formations followed by breakfast and visit to salt mountains. Late morning leave Dallol for Mekele to experience a different scenery and culture. Overnight Planet International Hotel or similar.

Day 06: Fly from Mekele to Addis. Your own time. Farewell dinner at a cultural restaurant followed by transfer out service for departure.
